Students in Huron and Perth counties will be getting some snacks, thanks to a local organization.
The Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society has partnered with the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre to provide snacks to 7 thousand local students.
Snacks at school are so vital in helping children be available for learning”, said HCFBDC Executive Director, Mary Ellen Zielman.
According to Breakfast Club Canada, 1 in 5 children go to school without breakfast or lunch.
A food insecurity report finds the average family of four in Huron and Perth counties spends $267 a week on food.
In 2022, it was estimated that 18 per cent of households in southwestern Ontario experienced food insecurity.
