Myles Murdock has been elected as the next Mayor of Goderich.
Murdock captured the October 24th Municipal Election with 1,844 (55.2%) votes, beating challenger Matt Hoy, who picked up 1,496 (44.8%) votes.
Murdock tells Country 104.9 News he’s looking forward to getting to work.
“I am so excited with the council with we have. Trevor and I, and the five that have been elected,” Murdock says.
“They are going to be stellar.”
Murdock’s current term saw him assume the Acting Mayor role, following the death of late Mayor John Grace in August.
Murdock says he learned a lot from Grace.
“John’s tutelage during the years has helped me immensely, in terms of the way I deport myself, and how I handle issues,” Murdock tells Country 104.9 News.
“It’s a team, and I’m looking forward to that.”
While he may have lost the election, challenger Matt Hoy says he plans to stay busy.
“There’s so many organizations around town that need help, and now I have the time to do that,” Hoy says.
