A Goderich secondary school teacher is being recognized for creating a field hockey legacy of the game in the rural Ontario town.
Ray Lewis has been named Male Grassroots Coach of the Year by Field Hockey Canada, for his work coaching the Girl’s Field Hockey squad at Goderich District Collegiate Institute.
Lewis has coached the squad since 2005, leading to wins in provincial and national tournaments.
Lewis has taken teams to the Cal Cup in California, as well as overseas to Europe.
Many of his athletes of gone on to play in the OUA and on provincial teams.
