An advisory by conservation officials is warning of possible flooding in low-lying areas around Huron County.
The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) has issued a water safety advisory for the region, saying this week’s warm temperatures would prompt a rapid melt of the area’s snow pack.
The MVCA says, “the resulting runoff from the snow melt will create bank-full conditions with flooding in traditional low lying areas.”
Peak levels in waterways across Huron County are expected Saturday, March 13th.
Forecasted showers this week are also expected to have a significant impact on runoff amounts.
Residents are reminded to use caution near all watercourses.
Slippery streambanks and extremely cold and fast-flowing water will combine to create hazardous conditions.
