Despite a pandemic affecting service clubs across Canada, the Lions Club of Huron County continues to support local causes.
The latest example is a $5 thousand donation made by the Lions to the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre.
Travis Teed of the Auburn District Lions Club says the need to assist critical frontline agencies, like food banks, is more important now than ever.
Teed points to food bank demand spiking to levels not seen since the Second World War, due to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Food Banks Canada, nearly half of the country’s food banks are providing support to an emergency program, in addition to groups who usually receive food.
