The heat is on in Grand Bend this Canada Day long weekend, and it’s not just weather-related.
Monday marks the first in a series of free weekend concerts on the beach at Grand Bend’s Rotary Community stage.
Organizer of Summer Sunset Sounds, Glen Baillie says the first show will be a tribute to graduates of the music program at South Huron District High School in Exeter.
Baillie notes that all of the performers over the next two months of concerts are Canadian — most of them from Ontario.
He says all the music you’ll hear is original compositions, and there are no cover bands scheduled to perform.
While there is no admission to any of the shows, Baillie encourages concertgoers to donate as organizers pass the hat through the crowd.
Summer Sunset Sounds starts Monday night at 7pm, and runs through August 26th.
Most of the upcoming concerts will run Sunday nights, except on the Civic Holiday weekend when the concert will go Monday night.
