The 2018 municipal election will be historic in Huron County.
For the first time, all nine municipalities will make electronic voting available in October.
Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel calls the development a good example of all nine lower-tier governments working together toward a common goal.
Electronic voting will greatly cut down on the amount of time to count ballots, and voters will find out much more quickly how their candidates did on election night.
Hessel is an advocate of shared services, and points to the agreement involving Bluewater and Central Huron who have one Fire Chief to serve the two municipalities.
On another issue, he mentions that budget deliberations are under way, which will give a clear idea of how much the current Bluewater Council can accomplish in the remainder of its term.
