Huron Perth Public Health Issues Warning About Cannabis Edibles

Huron County | by Fadi Didi
Public Health Promoter recommends starting with low dose edibles to avoid over-consumption.

With cannabis edibles on the market for public consumption, Huron Perth Public Health is warning about the effects of partaking in pot-infused products.

Public Health Promoter Sarah Merkel says edibles effect every user differently, and two people may have different experiences using the same products.

While overdosing is not possible with edible cannabis products, Merkel tells us over-consumption can lead to severe anxiety and panic, nausea, vomiting, and paranoia.

For that reason, Merkel suggests starting with lose dose products, and waiting at least two hours after first consumption before deciding to use more.

Health officials are also reminding edible users it is illegal to drive while impaired by cannabis products, and doing so slows reaction time, coordination, attention, and judgement.

It is also important to keep edibles out of reach of children and pets.
