Run Around the Square a Success

Goderich | by Peter Jackson
Almost $13K was raised for the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund

The ninth-annual Run Around the Square is in the books, and organizers of the Goderich event couldn't be happier.

Race Director Jason Moon tells Country 104.9 News that the 345 registered runners Sunday raised just over $13 thousand for the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund.

The Fund distributes defibrillators to local organizations.

Moon says the 90th such donation is in memory of Fire Chief Paul Josling, and goes to Cowbell Brewery in Blyth.

The craft brewer will have the defibrillator in their event room, and will take it on the road in their event trailer.

Moon tells us there may be changes on the way for next year's Run Around the Square.

He says they're looking at certifying a new route and adding a half-marathon next May, for the 10th anniversary of the event's launch.

Moon credits the work and support of many local sponsors including Country 104.9, for helping make Run Around the Square a success.
